Dog who fell off shrimp boat found alive days later after swimming six miles to shore
Monster's owner believed she would always be gone when the dog fell off a shrimp boat. But a couple of days later, the resilient dog swam to the shore and returned home.
The dog Monster enjoys accompanying Keith "Kiwi" Soffes, a shrimp boat captain from San Leon, Texas, on his regular excursions on the water.
But a recent trip ended tragically when Monster jumped overboard. Despite the fact that the dog had been with Keith since she was a puppy, and despite the fact that it was a quiet day, the dog vanished without a trace.
Keith looked in all the wrong places for her, but soon began to worry. I misplaced the only thing in this world that I genuinely loved, Keith wrote. "I have no heart left," I said.
Keith shared the account on social media in the hope that Monster would show up somewhere. People online showered him with love and prayers.
Nevertheless, five days after Monster departed, he received some encouraging news: Monster had made it through a perilous sea passage and was still alive and well.
The monster made it to shore after swimming five to six kilometers across Galveston Bay, according to FOX 26 Houston.
The creature was discovered a few days after arriving at the coast. Her story startled Keith when he heard it.
He said to FOX 26: "I responded, 'Man, she couldn't have made that swim. That dog had no chance of swimming all that distance.
Keith and Monster were happy to see one other again after struggling to be separated for several days.
Keith was unable to speak because of how hard he was crying. She gave me constant kisses.
In his own home, Monster is finally at last secure. While Monster appears unfazed despite her extensive journey, Keith is still exhausted from the emotional quest.
She acts like nothing happened, Keith wrote beside a photo of the contented dog that he shared on Facebook.Like a jaybird, she falls asleep relaxed. I think she deliberately jumped off. Just to get on TV," he said with a smile.
The fact that she's back makes me happy since I still adore her.
In order to make sure that something similar never happens again, Keith told FOX 26 that he will give the dog a tracking device and a life jacket on subsequent boat outings.
Such a remarkable accomplishment. Monster arrived safely at the destination and was reunited with her worried owner, which made us extremely glad. Clearly in love, these two are overjoyed to be back together.
