  One dog was in the face of overwhelming challenges, yet he keeps getting stronger. Libre was discovered to be critically underweight and clinging to life on July 4 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. While residing on a farm, he was "cared for" by a breeder. Libre was eventually placed with Speranza Animal Rescue when a woman who noticed the youngster and sent a picture of him to the rescue group saw how bad the pup's condition was. The woman was ordered to take Libre to the veterinarian after his breeder handed him in. Libre was a Boston terrier, but he didn't look anything like one. At just 7 weeks old, he was identified as having severe demodectic mange, as well as a number of secondary diseases that left him crusty and hairless. He also had sores in his eyes, the rescue team reported, and had maggots buried deep within him. His chances of living were extremely slim. Cathleen the dog was given to a new owner in Prague, Oklahoma, about 20 miles away, after her previous owners migrated and were unable to keep her. Cathleen, 6, had lived with her family since she was a puppy, so she decided to take matters into her own hands because she missed them so much. The young boy was exploring the building site when the courageous worker came close, looking for someone who could help him. The employee picked up the small youngster and took him to the Chicago Animal Care and Control animal shelter over lunch. Then it was agreed to take him to the doctor for a checkup by volunteers from Chicago's One Tail At A Time animal rescue organization. They performed a more thorough assessment of him and the necessary tests to determine what illness or accident had resulted in his injuries. The puppy was given the name "Parmesan Crisp" due to a terrible skin condition that made his legs expand and his skin turn red. He appeared to be in bad condition, with raw wounds on his skin, and was dozing off. Parmesan Crisp is receiving treatment for an autoimmune condition called juvenile cellulite. However, there have been tales of callous people leaving kittens in helpless positions. An illustration of this was given on the YouTube channel of a shelter called Animal House New, when a rescue crew responded to the call of some neighbors who had found an abandoned puppy in an abandoned home nearby.
